Ruud Gullit

One of the first ‘rock star’ footballers. In the late 1980s, he was one of the best players in the world, possessing pace, power and vision. He first came to prominence in 1987 with his transfer from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven to AC Milan for a record fee of £6million.

The following summer he starred in Holland’s European Championship triumph.

He spent six years with Milan helping them capture the European Cup twice before joining London club Chelsea in 1996, becoming manager a year later.

Now an authoritative TV football analyst.

This is his 19th appearance in the Alfred Dunhill Links.

Says his worst moment was a shank on the 18th at St Andrews fully captured by the TV cameras, but he still nearly made a par.
