Rory McIlroy to play in Alfred Dunhill Links
ST ANDREWS, August 24, 2017 – Rory McIlroy has announced he will play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews in October.
The enormously popular Northern Ireland golfer, currently World No.4, will be looking for his first ever victory in the prestigious event, having finished runner-up in 2009, 2011 and 2014.
Four-time Major Champion McIlroy has had a close relationship with the Alfred Dunhill Links over the years. In 2007, at 18, he became the youngest player to earn a European Tour card from tournament-play when he finished third.
And in 2014, in the Team Championship, he played with father Gerry, who was celebrating his 55th birthday.
McIlroy is the latest big name to confirm he will play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, a celebration of links golf, which is played over the Old Course St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, from October 5-8.
