Ruud Gullit

One of the first ‘rock star’ footballers. At his peak in the late 1980s, this Dutch master was one of the best players in the world, possessing pace, power and vision. He first came to prominence in 1987 with his transfer from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven to AC Milan for a record fee of £6million. That year he was voted European Footballer of the Year and the following summer he starred in Holland’s European Championship triumph. He spent six years with Milan helping them capture the European Cup twice before joining London club Chelsea in 1996, becoming manager a year later and winning the FA Cup in his first season. He is now an authoritative TV football analyst.
